No one wants to suffer…yet each and every day and countless times too boot, we allow our negative thoughts to take control of the wheel… or worse, someone else has it — not us. We tell ourselves a story that usually doesn’t map out the direction we’re going…and then beat ourselves up for getting lost, stuck or driving in circles. We tremble at the thought of saying, “Can I drive my life?” We’d rather search for the eject button than tell someone we want the wheel.
So how do we get in the drivers seat of our life?
First, even if we tell no one, we have to want to take the wheel.
We need to start figuring out what it is we want and then learn ways to ask for it.
We need to learn to speak our truth. If we mean no, we say, no.
We need to make sure we feel safe in our own skin, our own home and the environment we surround ourselves in.
We need to accept the things we can change, the things we can’t and to know the difference.
We need to fuel ourselves with positive thoughts. If our car takes gas, don’t give it diesel.
We need to understand that there’s 100’s of ways to get to New York, so no judging if we take a detour.
We need to learn to pull over, breathe and find stillness when there’s uncertainty.
We need to believe, on some level, that taking charge of our life is the fuel to our well-being and the way home.
